Approved by Monthly Meeting October 8, 2017 First Friends Church, a Quaker Meeting MM 100817.5 Statement on Hatred, Racial Violence and our call to Answer "that of God in Everyone": Whittier First Friends Church affirms our call to answer that of God in everyone by opposing any words or actions of hatred or violence perpetrated against any of God's children of any actual or perceived identity. Because of the history of our country, it is essential that we particularly state our opposition to physical, emotional, economic, social, political, and institutional violence and hatred aimed at our brothers and sisters based on the color of their skin, ethnicity, or national origin or other racial identity. We recognize that there is one race, the human race, and we are called to examine and dismantle our own biases and prejudices against persons of color and seek to actively work to bring about racial justice in our meeting, community and country. |
